Unties announced that the Neetpia developed tower defense Touhou spinoff Gensokyo Defenders will launch on PC-via Steam on April 25.
Gensokyo Defenders brings the danmaku hysterics of the Touhou universe and mixes in an interesting tower defense system. Players are able to assume the role of a handful of characters from the Touhou universe and utilize their skills and abilities to keep away hordes of enemies. Additionally, players will be able to construct a variety of different traps that will slow down or completely stop approaching enemies. The game also features boss battles against recognizable Touhou characters.
The PC version of Gensokyo Defenders will also include all of the DLC available on the Nintendo Switch for free. This DLC includes three new stages and traps along with extra playable characters, Yakumo Yukari, Toyosatomimi no Miko, and Byakuren Hijiri who each bring their own unique skills to the game.
“Gensokyo Defenders is a great mix of Touhou Project shooter gameplay with classic trap-based defense strategy,” said John Davis, G&R Representative, Unties. “Neetpia did a great job adapting Touhou characters and their powers into a classic tower defense setting to create a new strategic action experience that will have players begging for more.”
Gensokyo Defenders also features an online co-op mode.
