Genshin Impact 2.2 Special Program Introduces Both New and Returning Characters; Merchandise, Rhythm Game, and More

This morning, developer MiHoYo marked their presence at Tokyo Game Show 2021 with the Genshin Impact at TGS Special Program, which delivered the latest information regarding Version 2.2, “Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog”.

We’ve compiled all the information that was revealed. Please note that some of the following images have been taken from the Japanese broadcast, as there is no log from the English broadcast on Twitch.

Version 2.2’s Event Wishes will primarily focus on bringing released characters for a second time to give players another chance at Wishing them. The first of the Event Wish banners will feature Tartaglia, the Fatui Harbinger. The second will feature the Wangshu Funeral Parlor director, Hu Tao. Thoma, a new Polearm Pyro character, will be available for people to Wish as a 4-star character on Hu Tao’s Moment of Bloom banner. Both old and new weapons will be available in the Weapon Wishing banners, such as the Polar Star bow and the Staff of Homa.

Next, Inazuma will see the addition of its final island, Tsurumi Island. This mysterious Inazuma island features a foggy layout and is also known as a location where it’s disturbingly simple to get lost. New enemies, the Rifthounds, are also introduced here. Their attacks can inflict Corrosion, which slowly eats away the party’s HP. This status effect was introduced in this month’s Floor 13 of Spiral Abyss as an abnormality, but now, an overworld enemy can inflict it.

Furthermore, various events are planned for the Version 2.2 update, such as:

  • The Mysterious Omyou Chamber, where players will, alongside Tartaglia, tackle a mysterious domain filled with various rooms and monsters to defeat.
  • Shadow of the Ancients, where players help a Sumeru researcher investigate a regenerating Ruin Guard, among other oddities.
  • The rhythm game seen back in Version 1.4’s Windblume Festival has returned; now named Tunned to the World’s Souls, it arrives with new songs and mechanics.
  • A limited-time furnishing event where players can plant flowers in their Serenitea Teapot and create flower decorations.
  • The third set of Hangout Events will be added, featuring Thoma and Sayu.

New optimizations and layouts will be added to the Serenitea Teapot. The ” Silken Courtyard ” layout will unlock once players reach level 40 with the Sakura Tree located in Inazuma’s Narukami Shrine, and a new type of Terraform structure, the Floating Rock, will also be available. The new structure allows players to set the altitude of how much they want the terrain to float, and much like all Terraforming structures, furniture and buildings can be placed on top of it, which allows for the creation of distinct layouts.

Lastly, a collaboration with Razer was announced, with special Paimon-branded merchandise being available, such as an ergonomic gaming chair, a gaming mouse, and a mousepad, all adorned with Genshin Impact‘s favorite emergency food, er, I mean mascot, Paimon. In addition, Razer will also offer players the option to order customized items to “further immerse players into the experience.”
