Genshin Impact Version 2.5 Releasing Later This Month; New Quest & Character Details, Chasm Area Unveiled

In their Special Program that went live on Twitch and YouTube, developer miHoYo today showcased information regarding Genshin Impact’s latest Version Update, “When the Sakura Bloom,” coming on February 16, 2022. In this update, a new story quest and a new limited-time area in Enkanomiya will be playable. Furthermore, a new character, Yae Miko, will be available for players to Wish for. Here’s all the info you might’ve missed from the live stream.

This time, the main attraction is the new seasonal event “Three Realms Gateway Offering,” where players will explore a new area based on Enkanomiya that is haunted by unknown darkness. Once they have set foot in this area, characters will continuously accumulate corrosive darkness. A particular gadget, the Bokuso Box, will be given to help resist the corrosive darkness, gain new abilities, and take down specific enemies that lay inside this darkness, such as the Shadow Husks, a new type of enemy unique to the area. The further you go, the higher the corrosion factor.
Yae Miko will be joining the cast of characters players can Wish for. She’s the head shrine maiden of the Grand Narukami Shrine and an Electro Catalyst user. With her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst, Miko can provide both constant damage off-field and high burst damage on-field. Meanwhile, players may also cross paths with Yae Miko as an unusual urban legend circulates throughout Inazuma as her story quest will be released on the same day as Version 2.5. Yae Miko’s Event Wish will be available in Phase 1 of the update, followed by Event Wishes of Raiden Shogun and Sangonomiya Kokomi available in Phase 2 of Version 2.5.
Next, Raiden Shogun will be added as a new weekly Trounce Domain. According to sources, she will be a challenging addition for players to fight. And lastly, a new event called “Divine Ingenuity” will offer a chance for players to create their own domain. Participants of this event will be able to customize their domains with a variety of terrain, mechanisms, traps, buffs, and completion criteria. Moreover, players may also try out other players’ domain designs.
Lastly, the official press release revealed two new Concept Images featuring a new area called the Chasm. According to the developers, this new area will be added in Version 2.6. For those unaware, the Chasm is an area located slightly to the left of Liyue and has remained locked ever since the early days of Genshin Impact, with players wondering how it looked like or when it would release. Genshin Impact’s Version 2.5 update will be arriving on February 16, 2022, on the PS4 and PS5 from the PlayStation Store, on Android from Google Play, on iOS from the App Store, and PC from Epic Games Store or the Genshin Impact official website. In addition, a pre-load function will be available for PC users shortly before the date.
