Toronto-based developer Komi Games has announced its 2.5D metroidvania inspired by classic 32-bit run-and-gun platformers, Gemini X, in development for PC via Steam.
Set aboard the hijacked human space colony Z.C.N. 02, Gemini X follows rookie C.A.S.T.L.E. security officer Rook after an attack by a faction known as the Heretechs. Rook must survive this occupation and learn the truth behind their plans.
Each Heretech leader can be challenged in different orders. Defeating them grants new abilities for more combat options and exploration.
Certain encounters can be altered by uncovering hidden information and completing specific actions before facing a boss. Players who meet these conditions can trigger enhanced versions of battles.
Rook can dash, jump, and shoot through interconnected environments. New synthesized powers unlock additional traversal options and open previously inaccessible areas.
The soundtrack blends synth and hard rock influences inspired by the PlayStation era. The story will also feature branching outcomes shaped by player actions.
