CyberConnect2 has officially unveiled Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 in a new trailer depicting story beats and gameplay elements. The sequel to their steam-powered furry tale of war horror will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, Windows Store and Epic) on May 11, 2023. Xbox Game Pass users will also be able to play the game as part of their subscription plan.
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 takes place one year after the previous game. Though the children had celebrated their victory, war didn’t end. Half of the original crew is trapped within the Taranis and it goes on a rampage spreading destruction all over. Now the ones left behind will join Vanilla, the daughter of Gasco, and board its counterpart, the tank Tarascus to avoid even more tragedy and save their friends.
Here are a few images of some of the game’s characters, who look a little older now in the concept art. The list includes Malt and Mei Marzipan, Hanna Fondant, Kyle Bavarois, Boron Brioche, Socks Million and the newcomer, Vanilla.
Gameplay follows the same structure of turn-based battles. Players can allocate the characters for each cannon, using their skills and type advantages to make the most out of battles. Gameplay is enhanced with more strategic options for battles, map traversal, and a much more nuanced and detailed choice system called Judgment. Depending on what the player does, Malt will gain empathy and resolution points, which may affect how events play out.
Just like its predecessor, the game will only be available digitally. However, it’ll have a digital Deluxe Edition that includes a mini-soundtrack with 15 tracks and an art book with 80 pages. Extra downloadable costumes and items will also be part of this special edition. Here’s an early look at some of the contents, including the art book cover, as well as concepts of Malt Marzipan and the Exo-Taranis.
