First Shantae Game Releasing for PS4 & PS5; Physical Version Pre-Orders Begin August 2022
Developer WayForward has announced that the first Shantae game will be making its way to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 to commemorate the series’ 20-year anniversary. Limited Run Games will be hosting this physical release, with pre-orders becoming available on August 26, 2022. This entry has been available on Nintendo Switch physically since last year.
Limited Run Games has revealed a celebratory Shantae statue, viewable below. Details regarding pricing and its release date have not been provided yet. Thanks to Twitter user @AndrewCanadi for capturing a screenshot of this during the LRG announcements stream.

The latest new game release for the franchise is Shantae and the Seven Sirens.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens unites the most popular elements from previous Shantae titles as she heads out on a new quest. During the game, Shantae visits a tropical paradise where she befriends new Half-Genie allies. However, things take a turn for the worst as she stumbles across a secret below the island’s surface. Intrigued by this mystery, she will need to use new dancing abilities and transformation Fusion Magic to explore this nonlinear, interconnected world as she fights off various enemies, which might even be the Seven Sirens.
If you missed it, this title received a significant amount of new content via the “Spectacular Superstar” update, which includes the following:
- Definitive Mode: A more challenging “director’s cut” that features classic Shantae difficulty, with rebalanced item drops and magic consumption, as well as more-intense boss fights and new dialog with the Sirens before each battle.
- Full Deck Mode: Definitive Mode with a twist. Start with all 50 Monster Cards to customize Shantae’s abilities to your liking.
- Rule Breaker Mode: Definitive Mode without limits. You can equip up to 50 Monster Cards at once to gain ultimate power.
- Beginner Mode: Definitive Mode made simple. This easy mode makes it impossible to lose! Perfect for newcomers or those who just want to explore the world and enjoy the story.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens is available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PC, and Apple Arcade.
