Nintendo’s new trailer for Fire Emblem: Three Houses has proved to be quite a shock for those keeping up with trailers and tiny tidbits revealed in Famitsu articles. What was previously been shown off to be a ‘school life’ themed Fire Emblem title has pulled into an entirely new direction.
Originally, it seemed your player character, a teacher, would merely pick one of the school’s titular three houses to well…. teach. And then somehow this would progress into a fully themed Fire Emblem game with massive conflict. Then we were given this:
The countries at war only five years on from whatever plot occurs at the school, Blyeth, our player character fighting what appears to be all sides (with a hair color change for good measure) and finally, an animated cutscene featuring Sothis, our spirit dragon guide thingy, asking what our choice will be after ‘both sides of time are revealed to you’. What does this all mean? I have no idea but I am very excited. Death Stranding ain’t got nothing on this for me, I am in desperate need of some context.
