Square Enix has launched a teaser website for the much anticipated Final Fantasy XVI, currently in development for PlayStation 5.
The site reveals keyart from the game that features the game’s protagonist, Clive Rosfield, along with character illustration and vignetters that offer a small tease of the connection between them. Additionally, the website provides a more in-depth look at Final Fantasy XVI’s setting, which takes place in the realm of Valisthea, a land that has been blessed in the light of the Mothercrystals.
Final Fantasy XVI will take players to the world where civilians fear and love the powerful creatures known as Eikons. However, a single man or woman is blessed with the ability to call upon their power. Players will meet Clive Rosfield, a young man who trains to be a soldier and is dubbed the FIrst Shield of Rosaria and tasked to guard his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix. However, Clive finds himself in a dark and dangerous quest full of themes of revenge.
Follow the initial reveal, Yoshida-san and Takai-san commented on the reveal. Yoshida-san says, “Final Fantasy XVI producer (that’s right, just producer) Naoki Yoshida here. How did you enjoy the trailer? The exclusive footage, comprised of both battles and cutscenes running in real-time, represents but a fraction of what our team has accomplished since the start of development on this, an all-new Final Fantasy game. In that span, the team’s size has grown from a handful of core members to a full-fledged unit that continues to polish and build upon what they have created so far, all to provide players an experience unmatched in terms of story and gameplay.”
