Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Announces Viper Job, New Areas, & Final Fantasy XVI & XI Collabs; Trailers + Screenshots

Square Enix has announced a plethora of information for their ongoing MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, detailing the upcoming Dawntrail expansion, collaborations, gameplay additions, and more.

Firstly, during the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023 in London, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida announced the new incoming Job for Dawntrail, Viper. The Viper is “a close-range fighter using two one-handed blades that can be combined into a single two-handed weapon.”

A new city, Tuliyollal, was also introduced. It is “the seat of the federal nation-state governing Tural, located in the Northern Reaches of Yok Tural.”

Additionally, there is the tropical region of Kozama’uka, “replete with myriad rivers, streams and waterfalls, and the arid region of Shaaloani, spanning vast rain-starved plains across which a railroad is being constructed.” Plus, a new tribe is present here, the Moblins. They are “a people residing in the jungles of Kozama’uka who bear a strong resemblance to the goblins with whom they share common ancestry.”

Next up, a “new alliance raid series planned for the 7.x content cycle: Echoes of Vana’diel – a crossover series with Final Fantasy XI” was announced. This news was shared alongside the new Eliminator Threat and a new Limited Job planned “for release in the latter half of the Patch 7.x series.”

Another new confirmed crossover is with Final Fantasy XVI, “The Path Infernal.” There is also the Fall Guys-inspired Gold Saucer attraction. Both of these events will arrive during the 6.x series of patches in the lead-up to Dawntrail’s launch.

Lastly, the open beta for the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy XIV will “launch between mid-January and February 2024.” The game’s full launch is intended for Spring 2024, with 4K support on Xbox Series X.
