Final Fantasy XIV Announces Open Beta Test For Xbox Series for Late February

Square Enix has just announced that the open beta test for the XBOX version of their MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will finally begin on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at around 12:00 a.m. (PST). The open beta test contains the same content, features, and limitations as the Free Trial version, minus the ability to make optional Online Store purchases.

The Free Trial version, including the open beta test, will not require an Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate plan to play. However, the full Xbox Series X|S version will require one. All game data from the open beta will be transferred, and further details about the transfer will be announced at a later date.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that this beta test will only be available to new players who will be playing FINAL FANTASY XIV for the first time. The developer asks that players who have an existing Square Enix account to wait until the official release of the XBOX version, which they state “will release immediately following the conclusion of the open beta test”.

Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail 6

The new expansion in Dawntrail will take us across the western seas to a land named Tural. Tural is less developed than most countries we have visited, but this doesn’t mean it is uninhabited. The land is ruled by a two-headed Mamool Ja named Gulool Ja Ja. The expansion will focus on a contest for the rights to his throne inside the major city of Tuliyollal. This contest will consist of finding the fabled City of Gold, which will see the Scions racing across Tural in search of it.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC, with an Xbox port planned for Spring 2024.
