Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier Gets November Release Date in Opening Movie; Confirming I’d Play Anything With FFVII in the Title, Even a Battle Royale

Square Enix has released the opening movie for their battle royale Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier.

The trailer confirms that the game will launch on November 17 in the west on iOS and Android devices. Those who pre-register will receive:

  • 300,000 – Chocobo Egg
  • 500,000 – Shinra Mask Skin
  • 770,000 – Shinra Bike Skin
  • 1,000,000 – Shinra Utility Vehicle Skin
  • 2,000,000 – Shinra Helicopter Skin

The trailer highlights the various characters and classes that players can create in this upcoming battle royale, but it is still largely fantasy. The group seems to be fighting off creatures as well, but most of the actual game features PvP combat.

Although I don’t consider myself a fan of battle royale games, the opening is just enough to spike my interest. However, I’d probably only play for an hour before my millennial ass returns to the original to play it for the 20th time.

Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier is a battle royale that takes place in several locations around Midgar. Players are tasked with being the last member of SOLDIER standing and will have a host of abilities to keep them in the fight long enough.

There are several classes to choose from including Warrior, Sorcerer, or Mong, each with different abilities and skills that prove useful during tense situations. Players will also need to fight against monsters around the city to gain the experience needed to level up and unlock new weapons.

Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier also features classic gameplay elements such as ridable Chocobos, espers, and even summon Materia including Ifrit. Customization options allow players to alter their characters’ outfits and accessories to stand out on the battlefield. Further, there will be ways to obtain weapons and vehicle skins.
