Final Fantasy VII Remake Cover Art is Bursting With Nostalgia; Along With New Gameplay and Screenshots

Square Enix released the cover art for their RPG Final Fantasy VII Remake, coming to PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.

The art is reminiscent of the original North American cover released on PlayStation in 1997. The original image depicts Cloud standing before a large building surrounded by white light. It has the feeling that Cloud was a loner who was about to take on a large task. However, throughout the story, you realize that this just wasn’t the case. It’s a great piece of art that reflects and warrior heading into battle, but as things change in his journey new elements come into play. I see this image taken early on in Cloud’s journey and reflective of who Cloud turns out to be.

The new image for PlayStation 4, is pretty much the same style. Showing Cloud about to ready his blade to take on Shinra.

Additionally, Square Enix released new gameplay taken from Tokyo Game Show 2019 showing Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith battle a gargantuan underneath Midgar.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will tell the story of a corrupted world fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet’s very life force as Mako Energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, and throughout the story, goes on epic adventures with an unforgettable cast of characters.
