This adjustment heightens the impact of Tifa’s fall, giving players a visceral look at her inner world. It also establishes a delicate emotional interplay between Cloud and Tifa.

Hamaguchi highlighted that Tifa “grounds” Cloud as he struggles with Sephiroth’s growing influence: “She’s there to ground him. He even asks her after Gongaga that if she sees him start to go off the rails, to please pull him back. At the same time, she’s got her own worries, so Cloud may be supporting her in a similar way.”
