Square Enix has announced a new jazz arrangement album celebrating the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX. Titled Midnight Jazz: Final Fantasy IX, the album is set to release on February 11, 2026, in Japan.
The project assembles world-class musicians under the direction of yuma yamaguchi, a composer and arranger known for his work across various notable projects. Some tracks will also feature expressive vocal performances.
The tracklist was not yet unveiled, but the album’s new artwork of Vivi and Eiko was shared:
About Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy IX is notable for its return to the series’ medieval roots, following the more futuristic settings of its predecessors, and features a whimsical art style. The title also includes the series’ signature turn-based combat system, a major card game, and more streamlined character progression. It is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the Final Fantasy series, praised for its charm, story, and memorable characters.
Final Fantasy IX is available on all modern platforms. Rumors of a remake have circulated for quite some time, but no definitive announcements have been made. Moreover, an animated series was confirmed to have been in the works at some point, but information has been nonexistent.
