Square Enix continues their Inside series with a new episode centered around Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles as the developers who worked on the title discuss moments of the game’s development.
The video features Producer Akitoshi Kawazu and Character Designer and Art Director Toshiyuki Itahana who detail the game and how it came to be. The team didn’t exactly know what theme of the game was until much later in development when they realized the story and setting. The came up with the general ideas first, until after when they focused on the bonds that these characters shared.
Kawazu-san admits that he doesn’t like cutesy characters too much and asked that they avoid the cat-character tropes for this title. However, this is something that he asks during each game that he works on. Itahana-san grabbed onto the idea that each of these characters is a hero so he didn’t want any of them to stand out too much.
