Various new comments about the Final Fantasy VII Remake project were made by Yoshinori Kitase and Naoki Hamaguchi in new interviews.

Thanks to Genki for sharing these translated quotes and interviews.

    Development of Part 3

    • Progress and Schedule (via Famitsu):
Hamaguchi confirmed that development for Part 3 started in March/April 2024, shortly after FF7 Rebirth was completed.
    • After approximately 9 months of work (via 4Gamer), a solid build was created by the end of 2024, allowing the team to align on their goals.

We can already see the direction where we want to land, so we’ve been working towards that since the beginning of this year. We are proceeding without delay from the schedule we planned when we started the Remake Project.

Fans can look forward to the game progressing steadily and remaining on schedule.

    Gameplay Features

    • Cutscene Speed Options (via Automaton Media):
Hamaguchi highlighted the popularity of the time-saving cutscene speed-up option introduced in Rebirth.

This feature led to an increase in players on PS5 and PC, and we are planning to implement similar features in Part 3 of the trilogy.

Such quality-of-life enhancements aim to make the experience more convenient and accessible.

    Platform Details

    • No Next-Gen Exclusivity (via 4Gamer):
Kitase reassured fans that Part 3 will likely not be exclusive to a potential next-gen PlayStation 6 console.

You can rest assured about the next one (laughs).

Hamaguchi emphasized that Square Enix is committed to supporting a wide range of platforms. Promises can’t be made yet, but he wants as many players as possible.
