Far Cry 6 Officially Revealed With Release Date in Story Trailer
During the Ubisoft Forward Livestream event, Ubisoft unveils the next installment in the Far Cry series, Fry Cry 6. To be co-developed by Ubisoft Toronto, with help from Montreal, Kyiv, Shanghai, Berlin, and Montpellier.
In the new story trailer, Anton Castillo teaches Diego a diabolical lesson with a grenade and what it means to be a dictating leader of the fictional island nation of Yara. As Castillo describes his need to control the city, a riot is currently raging outside his mansion with fighters, and protestors are pushing back against the military.
The trailer establishes the setting and story in the new Far Cry. It is a familiar tale of a local fighter battling against influential figures trying to dominate the local land.
Ubisoft describes the sixth title as “a modern-day guerrilla revolution set in Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time.”
They also summarize who President Castillo as a man that “vows to restore his country to its former glory while grooming his son Diego to follow in his footsteps. Yet paradise has a price, and enriching his country means subjugating those who don’t adhere to his vision.”
This time around, players take control of either a male or female Dani Rojas, a local Yaran swept up in a revolution against Antón Castillo. Player’s will have options to craft makeshift weapons and recruit Fangs for Hire, like the last game, Far Cry 5, such as Chorizo, “the cutest wiener dog on wheels.”
Ubisoft also announced three bundle editions: a Gold Edition, which will include the base game and the Season Pass, The Ultimate Edition that will have everything in the Gold edition as well as the Jungle Expedition pack, the Croc Hunter pack, and the Vice pack.
The last bundle, The Collector’s Edition will include the base game, Season Pass, the Ultimate pack, a high-end display model of “Tostador,” the flamethrower from the game, a “How to Assemble” one-pager artwork illustrated by famous artist Tobatron, a unique Collector’s Case-based on Tobatron’s iconic art style, an exclusive Steelbook, a 64-page Artbook, a set of 10 stickers, a Chorizo keyring, a map and a selected Soundtrack of the Game.
Finally, those who preorder will receive the Libertad Pack, which includes the “Libertad Outfit” for Chorizo and the state-of-the-art “Discos Locos,” a weaponized disc launcher.
Far Cry 6 is set to be released on February 18, 2021, and is coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Stadia, and PC via Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store, and on UPLAY+, the Ubisoft subscription service.
