Publisher Phoenixx and developer Sanbondo announced that Fantasy Maiden Wars: Dream of the Stray Dreamer will launch worldwide for PC via Steam on October 21, with support for English and Japanese. The strategy RPG was originally released for Nintendo Switch in Japan in March 2022, with a Western Switch release also planned for 2025.
Set in Gensokyo, Fantasy Maiden Wars brings Touhou Project characters into a grid-based, turn-based RPG format. Players command squads of more than 70 playable characters, each with distinct traits and Spell Card attacks.
Units can be outfitted with skills and equipment, letting players experiment with different squad compositions. Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame are selectable protagonists, with your choice shaping parts of the narrative.
The story has reinterpretations of various arcs from across the Touhou series. The game also includes bonus features like a full encyclopedia of characters and terms, plus a music room featuring more than 200 tracks.
