Falcom Celebrating Ys 35th Anniversary Next Year, New Trails Title, and New In-House Switch Game
In the latest fiscal report from developer Nihon Falcom, they announced upcoming news related to their prominent game franchises, Ys and Trails (known as Kiseki in Japan).
Falcom community member @Hansuke21 on Twitter provided a translated bullet-pointed summation of the news fans should be aware of. Firstly, 2022 marks the Ys franchise’s 35-year anniversary, a genuinely notable milestone that Falcom intends to celebrate. Aside from a more affordable version of the latest mainline entry, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, further celebratory occurrences are planned.
Next, Falcom intends to develop newly in-house Nintendo Switch games starting with The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails. This is noteworthy because Falcom tends to let other companies handle porting projects, such as Ys Origin, making its way to consoles when Falcom only handled the original PC version internally.
The next Trails (Kiseki) title is planned to release in Japan by the fiscal year concluding in September 2022. Unfortunately, not many details were provided on this upcoming game. Still, it’s safe to assume that it will be a sequel to Kuro no Kiseki, the first Calvard arc title released earlier this year in Japan.
Lastly, multiplatform game development is planned across the console, PC, and mobile markets throughout Asia, North America, and Europe.
The next Nihon Falcom shareholder meeting will take place on December 16, 2021, so further details regarding these latest announcements will likely occur there.
