Fans Release Translation for What Might be Falcom’s First Game, Galactic Wars

The fan translation group Geofront has announced that they have translated what is presumably Nihon Falcom’s first-ever release, Galactic Wars, from 1982.

Galactic Wars was released for NEC PC-8801, PC-9801, and FP-1100. The reason why it’s only “presumably” is because it’s assumed to be their first release, as development details are not highly detailed or documented intricately. According to the Falcom Museum fan website, the motif for Galactic Wars is Star Wars, and it was helmed by Yoshio Kiya.

The information for the team behind this Galactic Wars patch is listed below:

  • Release Date: January 27th, 2024
  • Patch Platform: NEC PC-8801
  • Version: 1.0
  • Translation: Shawnji
  • Programming: Ribose, TWE
  • Testing & Feedback: Ribose, TWE, SlyGamer64, AnonymusAxolotl
  • Art Correction and Design: Sorcerian

You can download the translation patch for Galactic Wars and view installation instructions via the Geofront website.

Multiple Ys projects are in the works right now, and they’re not “new.”
