The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II will be released in the West on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG on February 14, 2025.
Taking place roughly two months after the events of the previous entry, the threat of Almata has passed in Calvard. However, a series of murders caused by a crimson beast now plagues the nation, leading to various factions aiming to either discover the truth or gain as much leverage from this precarious scenario as possible.
Protagonist Van Arkride is approached by an unexpected visitor regarding these murders, prompting the sands of time to unite many faces, old and new.
This sequel features two new combat mechanics. One of which is Cross Charge. While performing field combat, Perfect Dodging incoming enemy attacks will trigger this new functionality. Following the on-screen button prompt, another party member will be swapped in, initiating a charge attack. This swapped-in party member will also have enhanced strength for a limited time. Plus, this has a high chance of stunning an enemy.
Another new feature is EX Chains, which occurs during turn-based battles when specific conditions are met following Crafts or regular attacks against a stunned enemy. SCLM-linked party members will perform a powerful simultaneous attack that causes rippling effects damaging nearby foes. Large groups can be eliminated swiftly when this mechanic is used in conjunction with Cross Charge.
