Koei Tecmo released new details for the Gust-developed RPG Fairy Tail, coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 30 in Europe and July 31 in North America.
The publisher gives players a bit more clarity on the magic they’ll have access too with the game’s mechanics. One feature is called a Unison Raid where characters can unleash their magic spells all at once to cause high damage to an enemy. This was first used in the anime and manga, but the game adds new magic and match-up that haven’t been seen before.
Furthermore, the publisher detailed Extreme Magic Spells, which are unique to certain characters. For example, Kanna’s Fairy Glitter or Makarov’s Giant magic. Each spell uses element properties and affinities, and they can each be upgraded by earning experience.
A Digital Deluxe version is available with Grand Magic Games team costumes, a bonus Lacrima set, and a DDX Limited Ryza costume for Lucy. Purchasing any version of the game, physically or digitally, within a limited time from launch will also unlock the Early Purchase Bonus special Miss Fairy Tail costume for Erza.
Fairy Tail will focus on Natsu and the Fairy Tail guild as they fight against a variety of enemies on the mission to become the best guild in Fiore. During battles, players can form parties of up to five mages, who can combine their power to unleash unprecedented magical attacks across a three-by-three battlefield grid.
Players will need to consider which magic is best suited for various situations strategically. Furthermore, players can utilize a special Magic Chain attack where each character launches magic followed by a finisher. The game features 16 playable characters who each have unique magical abilities.
