Fairy Tail Producer Confirms Post-Launch DLC and Potential Photo Mode Feature

Koei Tecmo and Gust have never been shy to release post-launch DLC content to their games in terms of costumes and extra story content. In the past, the developer has delivered this content in both free and paid bundles to enhance their games after release and keep players coming back for more.

When it comes to the Gust-developed JRPG based on the Fairy Tail license, the team has years of content available to them to deliver to fans. At launch, Fairy Tail will have 16 playable characters, each member of the Fairy Tail Guild, with their own unique abilities and skills to add to a battle party.

In a conversation with Fairy Tail producer Keisuke Kikuchi, we asked if players can expect post-launch DLC, Kikuchi-san replied, “As Fairy Tail has a lot of characters and costumes, we are planning to provide DLC so that players can continue to enjoy new content even after the initial release. In addition, we are preparing costumes for the base game as well.” We weren’t able to learn which characters or customers will be added to the game.

We also asked if the game would include a photo mode feature, which would allow players to stage and pose characters for group screenshots. Kikuchi-san let us know, “We also received the same request from Fairy Tail’s creator Hiro Mashima. The development team is discussing a number of ideas, but exactly what form the photo mode will take is still being discussed. However, I would definitely like to prepare this feature in the future.”

Thankfully, it seems that Gust has plans to support the game post-launch with additional updates for fans to continue to hang out with the Fairy Tail guild. As to how far they will take the DLC in terms of pricing and offerings is yet to be seen.

In case you missed it, learn what has been added to the game following the recent delay.

Fairy Tail is coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on June 26 and June 25 for PC.
