Fairy Fencer F returns as a Tactics RPG! New title coming to Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 on September 15, 2022.

In the latest issue (June 2nd) of Weekly Famitsu, publisher Compile Heart and developer Sting have announced a new title called Fairy Fencer F Refrain Chord!

In Fairy Fencer F Refrain Chord, “song” is the key to the game, and the Divas can use special skills to enhance allies within range. A new system called “Dramatic Resonance” is also introduced, in which the songs of allies and enemies overlap to create a “mashup” of sorts, for up to 6 songs at once, thus allowing the player to feel an unprecedented sense of excitement, as if they were watching the climax scene of a TV anime.

The area where songs overlap is called the “Dramatic Resonance”, where songs have their power dramatically increased. You can enjoy strategically rich battles that build up the game in high-risk, high-return situations where both friend and foe can be strengthened.

According to Famitsu, over 20 characters from Advent Dark Force will make a return, alongside various new ones.

According to producer Makoto Kitano and director Saiki Motohara in a page containing a small interview, development of this sequel was after Compile Heart allowed them to challenge themselves in developing something new. Currently, 70% of the game’s developed. Furthermore, they wanted to do something new with Fairy Fencer F, so they decided to completely rehaul the battle system.

The new characters that were introduced are as follows (romanization is not official):

■ Fleur – CV: Yui Ishikawa
A “Diva” who is said to be able to use her power in her songs to grant special effects to herself and those around her, such as brainwashing and healing wounds. She is a bit naïve and sometimes behaves strangely despite her appearance.

■ Gras – CV: Rumi Ōkubo
A mysterious “Diva” who appeared before Fang and his friends. Her songs are said to have the power to brainwash people and manipulate their memories. She is working with Dorfa Co, but it seems that she is collecting Furies for someone called “The Master”.

■ Ooru – CV: Takashi Kondo
Fleur’s partner, and one who acts as some sort of “father figure” to her. He’s a scientist who’s both knowledgeable and caring, but tends to get extremely hooked on his interests.

*NOTE: Ooru is not in the press release. You can only see him on the Famitsu page:

One day, he meets a girl who saves people with her songs and another girl who brainwashes people with her songs. Fang’s destiny begins to unfold with the mysterious power of these girls, who call themselves the “Divas”.
