The friends of Ringo Ishikawa Developer’s Newest Title ‘Fading Afternoon’ is An Accumulation of Pixelated Action and World-Building

Developer yeo has revealed their newest action game, Fading Afternoon, currently in development for PC-via Steam for a 2022 release.

The game borrows a similar design to the developer’s previous works, Arrest of a Stone Buddha and The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa, as players navigate a pixel world through the lens of a tough guy. The most detail can be seen in the game’s environments that depict a more realistic Japan-Esqu town set in the past. Further, this new game focuses on narrative and action to bring the entire adventure together.

During gameplay, players assume the role of Seiji Maruyama, a Yakuza how has just been released from prison. While the option is there to fall into his old way, Seiji can take a different path. However, the developer notes that nothing really matters in Seiji’s world and that conflict shows up in the narrative.

Gameplay features include multiple enemies and moments of beat ’em up action. Additionally, players can put time into mini-games and explore the city.
