Visual Novel Puzzle Platformer ‘Evan’s Remains’ Launches Kickstarter With Free Demo
Whitethorn Digital announced that the solo developed game by Matías Schmied, Evan’s Remains, has launched on Kickstarter seeking $10,000.
The campaign is being run by Whitethorn Digital, the publisher of Evan’s Remains because the platform is not supported in Argentina. Furthermore, Matías has turned to Kickstarter so that he can entirely fund himself for a year to work full-time on the game to get it to release. The publisher will be handling marketing, console ports, and distribution. This is clearly a Kickstarter to assist a solo developer to finish the game that he’s been fully working on. 100% of the funds will go towards the creation of the game.
Players who wish to nab a copy of the game can pledge $7 or more on their preferred platform for when the game releases. However, if players wish to check out the game for themselves, they can do so with the game’s free demo on PC. The demo is short but gives players the chance to see how the developer blends visual novel and platforming mechanics together, as well as gives an idea of the story. There are also some additional physical reward tiers available.
Evan’s Remains is a narrative-driven puzzle platformer featuring pixel-graphics. The game’s puzzles must be solved by using logic rather than skill and throughout the game, players will uncover the story of the disappearance of the missing boy: Evan. Evan is a boy genius who has been missing for years, one day a letter emerges that points to him being alive on an uninhabited island. He requests a girl named Dysis to come to find him. Players assume the role of Dysis on her quest, but the island’s mysteries aren’t going to make that so easy.
Evan’s Remains is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam with a planned release window of May 2020.
