El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron PC Version Gets September Release Date
Developer and publisher Crim has announced the release date for the PC version of cult classic El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron. Originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the action game will be available on PC -via Steam– on September 1, 2021.
Inspired by the apocryphal Book of Enoch, El Shaddai tells the story of a scribe looking for a way to prevent a great flood that could end mankind. With the help of Lucifel, he will have to find seven fallen angels and bring them back to heaven. Only then would mankind be spared from that dire fate.
One aspect the game is known for is its aesthetics, with extravagant architectures, mixing 2D platformer action and colorful 3D worlds. The combat also includes various moves such as Guard Break, stealing weapons and airborne attacks. Though there are only four buttons and the basic gameplay is supposed to be simple, combining special moves can be tricky, but rewarding.
By finishing the game, players will be able to access an exclusive novel called Lucifer’s Fall. It’ll explain events that happen after El Shaddai‘s ending. An artbook with over 90 pages of illustrations by Sawaki Takeyasu, and a soundtrack will be sold as DLC and included on the game’s deluxe pack.
