Indie JRPG Edge of Eternity Heads Into Steam Early Access Next Month

Playdius announced that the Midgar Studio developed indie RPG Edge of Eternity will launch into Steam Early Access on December 5.

The Early Access build of the game allows players to begin the journey and get a preview of the game’s turn-based battle systems. Those who participate in the Early Access program will receive free updates that will expand the game’s story content over time.

The team had previously planned to launch the Early Access build on November 29, but have pushed it back a week to add the final polish. The game ran a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015 and has been delivering steady updates to backers over the last 3 years. This Early Access launch seems to be targeted to satisfy the backers and keep them at bay.

“We can’t wait to bring players into the world of Heryon for the very first time”, says Jeremy Zeler, Head of Midgar Studio, “We’ve got bold and ambitious plans for the future of Edge of Eternity, and opening up the first chapter of this adventure through Steam Early Access is just the first step on a hugely exciting journey.”

Edge of Eternity tells the story of magic and technology clashing as the people of Heryon ready for war against a mysterious invader. The game follows Daryon and Selene as they search for a cure for the all-consuming Corrosion that will save Heryon. Gameplay features turn-based combat and large words to explore.

Edge of Eternity is also planned to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
