Echoes of Mana Shares Extensive 40-Minute Gameplay Presentation; Multiplayer, Combat & More
During Taipei Game Show, Square Enix showcased a slew of footage for the upcoming mobile entry in the Mana franchise, Echoes of Mana. Much of the title’s beginning is revealed, with navigation and combat functionality being transparently depicted. The art style and animation are legitimately impressive, alongside stellar character portraits.
Combat is action-oriented with useable special skills requiring moderate dexterity. Multiplayer is a focal facet of the experience, with three players fighting simultaneously. Several beloved-franchise characters are also shown, such as the primary cast of Secret of Mana and some Trials of Mana party members.
The title’s producer, Haruto Akira, and development director, Murata from Wright Flyer Studios, appear and grant some insight regarding the development process. Unfortunately, no specific release date was provided, though the general Spring 2022 release window is still present.
You can view the stream where this gameplay showcase occurred below (timestamped at roughly 10-minutes in). English subtitles are provided.
The concept of this free-to-play game includes reliving scenes from multiple Mana titles. This title includes cutscenes from the remakes Adventures of Mana, Secret of Mana, Trials of Mana, and the PS2 game Dawn of Mana.
By experiencing those memories, players are tasked with finding a legendary sword long lost and returning the world to order. Additionally, the development team is Wright Flier Studios, known for their work on Another Eden.
