Earth Defense Force: World Brothers Gets PS4, Switch, and PC Release Date in the West
D3 Publisher announced today that they will publish the Yukes-developed third-person shooter Earth Defense Force: World Brothers will launch on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 27, 2021.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers uses a voxel graphical style for the characters and monsters. The new game is based in a parallel universe where everything is in this unique style, and Voxel Earth is about to be invaded. Players can create their own character and 4-member team to take down creatures. Characters from the previous EDF titles are also available to recruit to access new signature weaponry.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers will launch with English voice ever, and will be the first time the series to release on Switch. Sadly, at this time the online functionality does not support cross-platform play. However, there is a two-play split-screen option on PS4 and a four-player LAN co-op option for the Switch, which requires each player to own a copy of the game.
The publisher also released a new trailer that shows some of the levels and gameplay. Further, you can preview how this cute new visual presentation works in the EDF universe. Enemies seem to break apart instead of blow up into piles of guts. I’d say this is a kid-friendly version of the game.
