Koei Tecmo announced that the Omega Force-developed strategy Musou Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via steam on February 15, 2022. The game was previously delayed to improve the quality.
Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires has players utilize tactical elements to set on a quest to conquer ancient China. The game blends strategy and action, with one of the newest features being “Storming the Castle.” Here, the area around castles has been turned into a battlefield, and players must fight to take control of the land.
Players will then “Siege Battles with Troops” to invade the enemy’s base, taking advantage of siege weapons and giving troops instructions during battle. Once players break through an enemy’s gate, they will enter a “Decisive Battle” and claim victory after defeating the commander. Although all the enemy officers will re-join the battlefield for one last fierce resistance, players will have a chance to defeat and capture them.
Further, players will notice “Secret Plans,” which are conditions that are activated before a battle. If fulfilled, favorable effects on allies will be activated, including “capture surrounding bases,” “defeat messengers,” “escort the engineers,” and more. Each battle is highlighted by offense and defense centering on how to activate “Secret Plans,” providing a highly strategic battle experience. Conversely, enemies can also perform “Secret Plans.” By preventing the enemy’s “Secret Plans,” players will gain an advantage in battle.
Lastly, Army Affinity is a feature where the units have their strengths and weaknesses, which should be considered when running into battle: Infantry < Archer < Cavalry < Infantry. Each month, players will receive new commands to search for officers who can join their kingdom.
