Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Will Feature Krystalinda & Jasper Unbound from Dragon Quest XI

Square Enix has revealed new gameplay details for their upcoming turn-based JRPG Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince. In particular, the basics of battle and the classifications of monsters were detailed, alongside battle skills.

However, what’s especially significant is that Jasper Unbound and Krystalinda from Dragon Quest XI will be featured. It isn’t entirely clear if they’ll function in the party like other monsters. Still, this is pretty interesting since they’re fully-fledged characters, unlike the typical monster fare.

Additionally, while a bit vaguer, the highest monster rank uses Zoma from Dragon Quest III as an example, so we may be seeing him around, too.

In Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, the demihuman protagonist Psaro was cursed by the ruler of the monster realm of Nadiria, also known as his father, making the youth incapable of harming any being with monster blood coursing through their veins.

To defy his fate, Psaro becomes a monster wrangler, amassing a sizeable monster following during his quest for vengeance. Additionally, he’ll make new allies, including the elf Rose and the enigmatic Toilen Trubble.

Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince will launch for Nintendo Switch on December 1, 2023. Physical pre-orders are available, with digital pre-orders set to be available at a later date.
