Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons Highlights Special Moves and New Characters in Overview Trialer

Modus Games released a new trailer for the Secret Base-developed beat-em-up Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on July 27, 2023.

The trailer highlights the Special Moves players can use after maxing out their SP Meter, which rises during combat. Players can use these moves to clear large sections of enemies and earn cash to upgrade character skills. Further, depending on how you play, you can earn rewards to unlock collectibles after the game, including additional playable characters with their own movesets, strengths, and weaknesses.

One of the newest characters is Uncle Matin, who wields a riot shield to protect other party members and cause defensive damage.

During gameplay, players will fight through several stages and bosses, with the option to unlock bonuses and turn on features such as permadeath. However, there’s also a way to adjust the difficulty and play with a friend through local co-op. Online play is planned for a future update. If the developer was trying to deliver an authentic Double Dragon experience, you can’t get much more authentic than local co-op.
