Disgaea Franchise Achieves Over 5 Million Sold Units; Next Entry Teased, Character Poll, and Celebration Sale
NIS America has announced that the Disgaea franchise has achieved a significant milestone of selling over 5 million units worldwide. NIS President Sohei Niikawa shared a thankful message for fans on the NIS America Youtube channel.
He briefly expresses his thoughts when developing the first title and how it was initially only meant for a Japanese audience, never expecting the series to flourish so strongly in the West. Nikawa also briefly teases the existence of a new, upcoming entry in the series that takes feedback from fans all over the world into account.
To celebrate this noteworthy milestone, NIS America is hosting a Disgaea-themed sale on their online store, discounting several pieces of merchandise such as coasters, giclee, bags, and more.
Lastly, NIS America has launched a special ‘Disgaea 5 Million’ website which contains a significant character poll where its results will determine which characters will make special appearances in future titles. A retweet content is also advertised on the site, where fans can win a signed print by Disgaea artist Takehito Harada and some special Disgaea 6 merchandise.
Congratulations to NIS America, Nippon Ichi Software, and all creatives who have continued to work on the Disgaea series for almost 2 decades.
