Per a post on X (formerly Twitter) from the official PlayStation account, the Discord voice chat update is now live globally, allowing players to join voice chats directly from their PlayStation 5. If players do not see the new feature, they are advised to ensure that their console is updated and to perform a restart.
This process requires users to access the Discord tab within the Game Base via the PlayStation 5 Control Center. Once you choose the group or Discord server you’d like to join and select your voice channel, you’re golden. Other details, such as current users in the call and additional ones who join, will be communicated through console notifications.
PlayStation 5 users anticipated this feature’s arrival since the announcement. Originally, Japan and Asia were expected to receive it first, “followed by Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and the Middle East, and finally the Americas,” though it is now live globally. For those who have not used Discord on the console, be aware that you’ll need to link accounts.
PlayStation and Discord also announced that users will soon be able to share their PSN profile on messaging and social apps. Selecting the option from the PlayStation App or PlayStation 5 will provide a link or QR code you can share. Recipients of these messages will receive the option to add you as a friend once they have signed onto PSN.
