Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei I & II Composer Launches Kickstarter for Rearrangement Album

The composer of the classic Atlus JRPGs Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei from 1987 and Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II from 1990, Tsukasa Masuko, has recently launched a Kickstarter for a rearrangement album of Famicom Megami Tensei songs.

These arrangements would specifically be from the Famicom versions of Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei and Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II and feature lyrics. This effort is also stated to fulfill a promise for a deceased friend of Masuko’s.

Masuko went on to say that conceptualization for the arrangements has been completed, and alongside CD production, the following will need financial support:

  • English lyrics ([He does not] have the ability to write English lyrics)
  • Re-arrangement of the song as a song to be sung (by a third-party arranger)
  • Recording (costs for singer, performer, and recording studio)
  • Track down
  • Mastering

The following songs from Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei have been confirmed:

  • DAEDALUS~ダイダロス
  • Battlefield~戦場
  • Anfini~アンフィニ宮殿
  • Recollections~回想

The following songs from Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II have been confirmed:

  • Ex-convict~前科者
  • Death Match~死闘
  • Devil Speak~導き
  • Hallucination~魔界幻想
  • Omega~オメガ
  • Epilogue~神々の黄昏
  • Dawn Of The Human Being~エンディング

Further, Masuko confirmed that copyright is not a concern as he has already conversed with the companies involved. A general public release of this album is planned, too.

Currently, the project has received $30,574 from 623 backers over its $10,004 goal.

You can view additional details via the official Kickstarter page ahead of the campaign’s closure on November 6, 2023, at 4:01 AM ET/1:01 AM PT.
