Bandai Namco released the opening movie for their upcoming strategy RPG Digmon Survive, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam in 2020.
The trailer was first streamed during Anime Expo 2019, but now can be viewed by all Digimon fans. In the trailer, players can get meet a new cast of characters as they find themselves on a school trip. During the opening, it’s established that something just isn’t right about the setting and these new characters will play a huge role in uncovering that mystery — along with their Digimon pals of course.
Digimon Survive will focus heavily on the story of the characters and their relationship with their Digimon. The team’s approach to this new title will be very Japanese and will utilize this generation’s hardware as much as possible in a blend of 2D illustration with 3D environments. During battles, Digimon will be able to Digivolve right on the maps and the battle flow of the matches will be as fluid as possible while retaining the strategic mechanics of taking advantage of enemy weaknesses.
Digimon Survive will feature dramatic story sections where players will be able to learn more about the characters and the world, much like a visual novel. However, additional gameplay elements have been added to feature large scale battles between Digital Monsters.
