Digimon Survive Receives July Release Date in the West; The Wait is Almost Over
Bandai Namco shared a producer interview video announcing Digimon Survive will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on July 29, 2022, in the west.
After several delays citing development and other issues surrounding the release, the developer is confident that they will hit this set release date. Fans have been waiting a few years for a new Digimon game and this one stands out with its original setting and tactical RPG elements.
The producer also shared that there are other surprises in store for fans that will be revealed closer to release.
Digimon Survive will focus heavily on the story of the characters and their relationship with their Digimon. The team’s approach to this new title will be very Japanese and will utilize this generation’s hardware as much as possible in a blend of 2D illustration with 3D environments. During battles, Digimon will be able to Digivolve right on the maps. The matches’ battle flow will be as fluid as possible while retaining the strategic mechanics of taking advantage of enemy weaknesses.
Digimon Survive will feature dramatic story sections where players learn more about the characters and the world, much like a visual novel. In addition, however, additional gameplay elements have been added to feature large-scale battles between Digital Monsters.
