Diablo II: Resurrected Gets September Release Date for PC and Consoles

Blizzard has announced the release date for Diablo II: Resurrected. The remake of the classic action RPG will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on September 23. This new version is being developed by Vicarious Visions and pre-ordering it will give players early access to its open beta.

Diablo II: Resurrected supports up to 4K resolution with support to 7.1 Dolby Surround audio. It takes the original 2D character models and makes a 3D re-envisioned version of its dark fantasy world. The original 27 minutes of cinematics will also be faithfully reproduced while matching the modernized graphics.

The new version also strives to preserve the original hack-and-slash gameplay’s enjoyable traits while also adding quality-of-life updates, including a larger stash and auto gold pickup. It’ll also be possible to swap between modern graphics and the original 800×600 resolution for nostalgic players who want to feel the original experience.

A multiplayer open beta will take place on all platforms in August with five of the seven character classes available. It’ll be possible to pick Amazon, Barbarian, Paladin, Sorceress and Druid on the beta while the final game will also include Necromancer and Assassin. The feedback will be used to polish the game’s final release.

Another important detail is that the game will include cross-progression to allow players to enjoy the experience in multiple systems if they want. Check out the new trailer:
