Devolver Digital Acquires Developer doinksoft
Publisher Devolver Digital has announced that developer doinksoft has merged with their team. This acquisition doesn’t come as much of a surprise since not only has doinksoft been hard at work developing the highly anticipated Gunbrella, but they also developed the Devolver Digital-published retro action game, Demon Throttle, and the Devolver Bootleg minigame collection.
Gunbrella is a stylish 2D action-adventure has players utilize a crafty tool that is simultaneously a gun and an umbrella, hence the title. Well-timed platforming is necessary, with the umbrella part of the main character’s weapon creating a pseudo-glide, and the gun is well, a gun. The world is losing its natural resources, and an increasingly bizarre cast of characters requires aid in numerous ways.
Gunbrella will launch for PC in 2023.
Demon Throttle has players take control of two characters who must travel through retro-style levels and avoid enemies and bullet-hell esque bosses. Demon Throttle tells the story of a beautiful vampiress and dusty gunslinger on a quest for vengeance against a demon that stole her mystical chalices and slept with his estranged wife. Now the two characters will need to fight their way through four generals and their domain followers in order to lift the demon’s curse and exact their revenge.
Demon Throttle is physically available for Nintendo Switch.
