Studio Interlude has announced that Devil’s Liminal, its debut yuri horror visual novel inspired by Azorean folklore and Goethe’s Faust, will leave Steam Early Access on September 1, 2026. The game follows Margo Silva through a supernatural summer in small-town Arizona as she prepares to leave for college.

Margo has spent years trying to move beyond the trailer park where she grew up. Her plans for a quiet summer job fall apart after a hungry ghost begins appearing in her dreams and a demon lays claim to her soul. Two girls, Bec and Clara, arrive with their own ways of helping her, though each is keeping secrets. The story ties Margo’s present-day problems to alchemists, demons, and events stretching back 500 years.

Devil’s Liminal features a 238,000-word script, more than 300 choices, multiple routes, and five endings. Player decisions affect Margo’s romances, childhood friendships, and interactions with other residents of the town. Different playthroughs also reveal more about Margo’s past and the historical events connected to the demon claiming her soul.

Romance plays a major role in the branching narrative. Margo can pursue sapphic relationships with Bec or Clara, while a secret route involves a possible romance tied to events from 500 years earlier.

The horror mixes supernatural threats with grounded subjects including poverty, abusive relationships, generational violence, and cultural heritage. Margo encounters disturbing dreams, soul-consuming rituals, and grave robberies in the Arizona desert as the tension builds over the course of the summer.

The game uses handmade, retro-inspired 2-bit dithered artwork and takes place during the mid-2000s. Its soundtrack takes inspiration from ’90s and 2000s alternative rock, while players can collect more than 40 gallery images. Four actors provide partial voice acting for the main cast.

Devil’s Liminal is currently available through Steam Early Access and will receive its full PC release on September 1, 2026.
