Now That Devil May Cry is Coming to Switch, Will Dante’s Next Venture Be to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Capcom announced this morning via their Twitter plans to release Devil May Cry on Nintendo Switch this summer without much more information for fans. This means we can only eagerly await assets like a trailer and screenshots leading up to the game’s official release on the console hybrid.
One speculation to keep in mind is that earlier this year, VG247 spoke with director Hideaki Itsuno to ask him about the possibility of the series main character Dante making an appearance in the brawler Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Itsuno-san stated, “Well, that’s the thing. Devil May Cry has never been on a Nintendo platform. So it seems like the first thing to do would be to get Capcom to put Devil May Cry on a Nintendo platform in some way, shape or form – whatever game that might be.”
Just recently, Joker from Persona 5 was released as a playable character along with the announcement of a Persona 5 Musou title releasing on the Switch.
With speculation of Dante’s appearance on the roster soaring, it’s possible that this announcement could be followed with an announcement that he will appear on the Switch. With his versatile fighting style and many stylish combos, I feel like he will be an excellent addition to the game’s ever-growing roster.
But for now, all we can do is wait. Let us know in the comments if you’d like to see Dante as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
