Development of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Will Be Taken Over by Ubisoft Montréal

Ubisoft released a statement this morning that provided an update on the development of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake.

Initially announced in 2020, the game has been delayed several times to improve quality. However, this new update finds the game in the hands of another team, ironically the development studio that originally developed the trilogy. The publisher revealed that Ubisoft Montreal will be heading the development of the game moving forward. The game was in the hands of Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, but it looks like the team needed an additional studio to help with refining the remake.

In a statement, Ubisoft shares:

The decision is an important step and the team, building upon the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic, when it’s ready.

The team further promises that they will keep fans updated. And we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any future developments from this release.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake is releasing for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at some point.
