Little Orbit and Descendant Studios announce release details for their reimaging of the six degrees shooter, Descent, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in early 2019.
Based on 1995’s 3D first-person shooter Descent, this new title has players return to the mining tunnels as they take down any dangers that they encounter along the way. With twisting tunnels that has the player traveling in all directions, Descent aims to reach the fans of the series and also introduce the series to a new generation of gamers.
Additionally, pre-orders are now open, which allows players to access the PC Beta that will begin in November, a custom version of the Generation III “Viola” ship, special PC Beta challenges to unlock exclusive pre-season cosmetic rewards, multipass upgrade for multiplayer seasons 1 & 2 with additional gameplay challenges, and “Secret Missions” DLC with additional single-player missions, which will be available when the full game launches.
“This has been more than a 3-year journey for the Kickstarter backers, Early Access players, and fans who all made this game possible. We are excited to begin rolling out the Descent beta for players later this year,” said Matthew Scott, CEO of Little Orbit. “With Descent, we are reimagining a classic franchise, while still staying true to the core gameplay that made it one of the most popular games of the 90s.”
For players who purchased Descent: Underground during Descendent Studios’ Kickstarter Campaign gain access to all of the pre-order benefits.

Author’s take: I’m going to be real with you, I vaguely knew what Decent was up until this morning. I’ve previously seen speed runs of the classic game, but it’s not to see a reimaging for a studio capable of creating some cool looking visuals. I’ll be keeping up with the game’s development as I keep myself from staying in the dark about these interesting games.
