Death of a Wish Looks Insane in New Gameplay Trailer; Free Demo Releasing Later This Month

Syndicate Atomic released a new trailer for the Melessthanthree-developed action RPG Death of a Wish, coming to PC via Steam in winter 2024.

The trailer highlights gameplay elements that look absolutely insane. I’m getting the feeling that this game is meant to instill some sort of uneasiness to the player, and it shows in the presentations.

The publisher has also confirmed a demo will be available on Steam beginning on October 26, 2023. Players who defeat The Deserter Boss in the Steam Next Fest demo with an “A” Rank and submit a screenshot of their score through this form will be sent a postcard featuring key art from Brianna Lei, creator of Butterfly Soup, with a handwritten message from the developers.

In Death of a Wish, players assume the role of Christian, a young person marked by an enigmatic cult and grappling with the struggle to break free from indoctrination. Together with like-minded individuals, they unite to challenge their oppressors by dismantling the four Sanctum Faiths: Father, Sister, Cardinal, and Priest, thereby disrupting the established order of their world.

The game boasts a range of notable features, including demanding yet rewarding combat that places a premium on strategic aggression. Players can aim to attain high-style ranks to counteract the constantly mounting corruption. The RPG system is robust, offering powerful perks that grant the flexibility to adapt combat dynamics to suit one’s preferred playstyle.

In this desolate dream world, players will encounter an array of surreal characters and stories, creating a uniquely chilling atmosphere. To enhance the experience, the game features a haunting soundtrack composed by Nicolo Telesca, blending electronic and live instrument elements.
