Death End Re;Quest Gets Release Window With World and Characters Details

Idea Factory International launched the opening movie trailer for their RPG Death End Re;Quest, coming to PlayStation 4 in early 2019.

The trailer gives a preview of characters and environments that players will encounter in the main game. More importantly, the publisher released details about the game’s setting, World Odyssey, in new screenshots.

Created by a video programmer named Arata Mizunashi and his colleague Shina Ninomiya, World Odyssey is a virtual landscape. However, during production, Shina was sucked into World Odyssey and is now the only player in the game. Arata must work with the virtual Shina to get her out safely, but that won’t be an easy task.

The game features reality and virtual modes where players will investigate outside of the game’s world as Arata to solve ways for Shina to progress. Choices made in the real world have consequences for the outcome of the story. The game’s battle system is turn-based and also has first-person and fighting game modes.

You can check out the new screenshots showing environments found in World Odyssey and portraits of Arata and Shina as well as the opening movie below:

Author’s take: Death End Re;Quest has a lot of system and different fighting styles which makes this a rather ambisious game for Idea Factory to take on. I’m excited to see what they do with the story and how the choice system affects the story.
