Capcom has announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, a highly anticipated return to this franchise. It is planned to be released later this year for the newest generation of platforms with a brand-new look. No specific platforms or further details were stated.
The announcement trailer briefly showcases the enhanced presentation of this first title, with Frank West taking centerstage. We’ll keep you all updated on this surprising yet exciting release.
The first Dead Rising was released in 2006, as it followed the protagonist, Frank West, who dealt with a zombie infestation in a shopping mall in Colorado. Discovering the truth of this outbreak and fighting against it must occur within the three days he and others are trapped before a rescue helicopter arrives. Multiple endings were available depending on in-game actions.
The gameplay had players battling off hordes of zombies while rescuing survivors around the town, impacting progress significantly.
Several sequels were eventually released over the years, with Dead Rising 4 in 2016 being the latest original launch. There were rumors that a fifth mainline entry was planned to occur between the second and third games. However, this project was reportedly shut down when Capcom Vancouver shut its doors in 2018.

I’m saying this as a die-hard fan of the first two games and Off The Record, this looks awful. They made Frank look like a cartoonish caricature of Bill Murray… and TJ Rotolo’s still not back. Wasn’t Capcom’s big excuse for recasting him in DR4 because he didn’t sound old enough?
