Dead Island 2 Goes Gold and Moves Up Launch Date

Deep Silver announced that the Dambuster Studios-developed zombie action RPG Dead Island 2 has gone gold. As such, the team will move up the launch day by one week to a new release date of April 21, 2023. The previous date was April 28, 2023.

Dead Island 2 will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

Dead Island 2 is a follow-up to the first entry in the series, Dead Island, which was released in 2011. This entry has been in a sort of development hell for a few years before making a comeback with a revised announcement trailer and gameplay.

The game features a story mode that introduces some new characters that are described as “crazy.” Further, an “over-the-top” mode is available for online play with up to three players. There are six characters to choose from, each having their own unique skills. The characters can be fully customized across an updated skill system, which can be reset for new builds. The game definitely looks a bit more playful than the first entry, but it does retain one thing, zombie killing.

We’ll keep you updated on the release of Dead Island 2.

Congrats to the developer for sticking with the franchise over all these years.
