Dead Cells Return to Castlevania Announced for Q1 2023

The Evil Empire and Motion Twin studios have announced new content arriving in their action roguelike Dead Cells in the first quarter of 2023, titled Return to Castlevania. This content will arrive on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Ben Laulan, co-founder of Evil Empire and COO stated the following:

“Like so many millions of players around the world, we are huge fans of Castlevania and remember vividly what playing it for the first time felt like. It opened up a world of possibilities and potential for so many games to come, including Dead Cells. The original inspiration – the roots of Dead Cells – was born from a shared passion for the Castlevania franchise. We are so excited to bring this DLC to fans of Dead Cells and Castlevania early next year. It means so much to us to be bringing this to fans of both franchises.”

Players can look forward to a new storyline where Richter Belmont approaches The Beheaded following the appearance of Dracula’s castle. 14 iconic weapons, including the Vampire Killer, the Cross, and, of course, the Holy Water, are included alongside two biomes included the aforementioned castle. Further, 51 Castlevania tunes and 12 remixed in the Dead Cells style will be implemented. This is also stated to be the biggest piece of added content for the title.
