The Dark Pictures – Man of Medan Continues Dev Diary Video Detailing Spooky Environment Design

Bandai Namco released Part 2 of their world-building developer diary for Supermassive Games developed narrative-horror title The Dark Pictures – Man of Medan, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC-via Steam in 2019.

This developer video focuses on the world of the game and how the team made the game feel like a horror movie by creating an atmosphere that would feel familiar, but still leave the player spooked. This includes using lighting effects, dissonant audio, and research into real-world military vessels. Additionally, The Dark Pictures – Man of Medan will include Shawn Ashmore (X-Men, Quantum Break) and Pop Torrens (The Crown, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), whose in-game likenesses are rendered in detail.

The Dark Pictures – Man of Medan will be released digitally and physically.

If you missed it, check out part one of the developer diary that addresses more details of the game’s environments.

Author’s take: Atmosphere in these horror games is everything and I think that Supermassive Games nails that. It’s going to the be the characters and story that they’ll need to get right in this one and how each character fills their roll in the horror stereotype. However, I’d like them to maybe try something new as well, so I’m up for anything.
